Fire Safety Training: Annual Fire Safety Training with Thomson & Inglis will take place at the Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh, EH9 1BB on Thursday 12 November, with sessions at 10:00am, 2:00pm and 6:30pm. Each session lasts around two hours. Clergy, staff, pass-keepers, volunteers, Fabric Committee members, Health & Safety Representatives and Parish Pastoral Council members are encouraged to attend. Quarterly African Mass in Fife: All parishioners and visitors are warmly invited to join us for our inaugural quarterly African Mass. Come celebrate our faith together with vibrant liturgy and music. Sunday 20 September, 2:00pm prompt, St Margaret’s Catholic Church, Dunfermline.  Light refreshments will follow in the parish hall after Mass. All are welcome!

 

The Beginning Experience: The loss of a loved one through separation, divorce or death, is one of life’s most traumatic experiences. It can result in unbearable feelings of grief and loneliness. The Beginning Experience, Scotland Team, would like to help. A weekend away for a lifetime of change to be held at Conforti Centre, Coatbridge, 16-18 October. The day provides an opportunity for all involved in Safeguarding Catholic faith communities in Scotland to gather and reflect on what we can all do to make our faith communities safer. National Pilgrimage to Carfin: Holy Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop William Nolan, joined by Bishops, Priests, Religious and Faithful from across the country. Together we will gather in prayer before Our Lady, asking her intercession for our families, our communities, our nation, and for peace throughout the world. Sunday 6 September at 3.00pm.

 

“What a Friend We Have in Jesus!”  There was a Church where the pastor and the minister of music were not getting along. As time went by, this began to spill over into the worship service. The first week the pastor preached on commitment and how we all should dedicate ourselves to the service of God. The music director led the song, “I Shall Not Be Moved.” The second week the pastor preached on tithing and how we all should gladly give to the work of the Lord. The director led the song, “Jesus Paid it All.” The third week the pastor preached on gossiping and how we should all watch our tongues. The music director led the song, “I Love to Tell the Story.” With all this going on, the pastor became very disgusted over the situation and the following Sunday told the congregation that he was considering resigning. The musician led the song, “O, Why Not Tonight?” As it came to pass, the pastor did indeed resign. The next week he informed the Church that it was Jesus who led him there and it was Jesus who was taking him away. The music leader led the song, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus!” — Is there anybody you have trouble getting along with?
